PEDSI GLOBAL HEALTH is a voluntary non-profit organization formed in USA comprised of physicians and nurses who are committed to promoting medical educational activities in USA and developing countries. Our members include Pediatric Emergency Medicine specialists from The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and experienced Physicians and Nurses practicing in New York. Our faculty are Fellows of American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians and members of Bangladesh Medical Association of North America. As instructors and Medical Director for PALS for over
20 years we have considerable experience in organizing top quality course.
We have a strong faculty with extensive experience in pediatric emergency y care, education and community outreach. We have a core of qualified Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructors who volunteer with us. We have established American Heart Association (AHA) International training center in Bangladesh to train experienced Bangladeshi physicians as BLS and PAL Instructors to offer essential pediatric lifesaving courses in all parts of Bangladesh. We have conducted PALS and APLS courses in Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. We offer healthcare education and CPR awareness programs for students and parents in immigrant communities in New York. We are involved with American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to promote Global Health initiatives for improvement of maternal and child health. We have donated Defibrillators and “Resuscitation kits” which included essential equipment required for monitoring and stabilizing critical patients.
Maksud Chowdhury, MBBS, MRCP, FAAP
Dr. Chowdhury is a cofounder of Pediatric Education Development Society International. He received his MBBS degree from Chittagong Medical College. We worked as Surgical resident in Dhaka Shishu Hospital and as Pediatric & Neonatal resident in Saudi Arabia. He completed his DCH & MRCP degrees from UK and completed his Residency in Pediatrics in New York. He is currently Associate Professor of Pediatrics at St. George University and Attending Physician at Coney Island Hospital, NY where he has received multiple teaching awards. He is the past President of Bangladesh Medical Association of North America (BMANA) where he organized multiple CME conferences and cultural events. He is involved with multiple charitable organizations in USA and Bangladesh
Waseem Hafeez, MBBS, MD
Dr. Hafeez is a cofounder of Pediatric Education Development Society international. He received his MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College. He completed training in Pediatrics at Dhaka Shishu Hospital and in New York. Since 1990 Dr. Hafeez has been working as an attending physician in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and is Board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He is Associate Professor of Pediatric Emeritus at at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY. He was the Medical Director of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) at the Montefiore Life Support Training Center. He has published research articles in medical journals, and written textbook chapters on various topics. Apart from volunteering in PEDSI, he has been to medical missions to Haiti and teaching programs in Zimbabwe, Philippines and Bangladesh.
Shamim Begum, MBBS, FACP
Treasurer & Director of Womens Health
Dr. Begum received her MBBS degree from Chittagong Medical College. She worked as Medical officer in Saudi Arabia and completed her Residency training in New York. She is board certified in Internal Medicine. She was an Attending Physician at Lincoln Hospital where she received multiple teaching awards. Currently she works as an Attending Physician in Long Island Developmental Disabilities Service Office, as well as provides medical care in an immigrant community in NY. She is life member of Bangladesh Medical Association of North America. She is involved with multiple charitable organizations in USA and Bangladesh.
